Madge Limited today announces the extension of its
Wireless product family with a new multi-band Probe, a complete scalable
hardware and software solution for the management of larger multi-probe
installations and an attractively priced starter package allowing a
quick and cost effective deployment of a wireless intrusion, detection
and monitoring system. Madge’s new Wireless products provide
leading-edge features simplifying the deployment of small and large,
secure and managed wireless networks. Major features of this solution
are:
Madge WLAN Probe 2
The WLAN Probe 2 is a small, discrete sensor device connected to
the enterprise’s wired network. The WLAN Probe performs real-time
intelligent radio-monitoring, scanning all channels used by 802.11a/b/g
and Bluetooth equipment of all types. The WLAN Probe detects and reports
on authorized and unauthorized wireless activity. One WLAN Probe can
monitor an area of up to 45,000sqft. The WLAN Probe can be used as
a stand-alone device or in conjunction with the Madge WLAN Probe Monitor.
Madge WLAN Probe Monitor
The Madge WLAN Probe Monitor is a reporting, control and management
system provided on a rack mountable server appliance, offering
a central point for wireless security monitoring and recording.
The
WLAN Probe
Monitor continuously gathers event information from WLAN Probes
on the network and stores the data in its databases. The system
turns
the data into information using intelligent analysis tools.
System and security managers can log into a Windows-based console
application
that obtains the event data from the server appliance and then
presents the data on an easy to understand graphical management
console. The
console provides the enterprise wide view of the managed airspace.
The system provides the following functionality;
- Setting and helping to enforce wireless LAN security policies;
- 24/7 monitoring for authorized and rogue access points;
- Detecting intrusions and attempted attacks;
- Identifying unapproved networks and connections;
- Locating incorrect configurations that can lead to new threats; and
- Understanding and managing wireless network performance.
The WLAN Monitor Starter pack brings together two WLAN Probe 2’s,
the WLAN Probe Monitor server appliance and all associated software
in a package with a price of $5995. The WLAN Monitor is scalable and
will manage from two up to hundreds of WLAN Probes.
