Madge and Red-M Announce
Technology Licensing Agreement
Madge granted technology licence to further enhance
its WLAN Enterprise Access Server solution
September 3, 2004 – Maidenhead, England – Madge Limited,
market-leader in Token Ring networking and pioneer of next generation
networking solutions today announced an agreement with Red-M, a global
provider of hardware and software solutions for secure wireless control.
Under this agreement, Red-M will grant Madge a non-exclusive licence
to its Genos family of wireless security and authentication software
so that Madge can further enhance its standards-based enterprise-class
wireless solutions.
The two companies have had a long and successful OEM relationship.
Madge re-brands a range of Red-M’s wireless intrusion detection
solutions along with Red-M’s wireless authentication and security
technology which is included in Madge’s WLAN Enterprise Access
Server product. The WLAN Enterprise Access Server dramatically simplifies
the security and integration challenges unique to the implementation
of a wireless network by providing network managers with a series
of tools to administer the link between wired and wireless technology.
It enables customers to implement multi vendor, scalable wireless
solutions from workgroups to enterprise-wide systems with robust security
features.
Data from analysts, Dell’Oro Group, shows that the wireless
market in Europe is set to grow by 74% in 2004, and at a rate of 47%
through to 2008. Red-M’s chief executive officer, Karl Feilder,
said, “Over the years Red-M has developed a complete portfolio
of technology for securing and controlling wireless networks. Coming
to an agreement like this with Madge, a leader in advanced networking
applications, emphasises the strength of our technology base. It’s
a natural step in the growth of our company and extends our reach
in the network deployment market.”
The agreement enables Madge to enhance the software components of
its WLAN Enterprise Access Server range, which is key to its strategy
of enabling companies to effortlessly deploy wireless LANs while protecting
their investment in existing networks.

with Red-M will bring new security and management features to our
core access server product which will enhance its effectiveness, ease
