Permanently Disabling Promiscuous Mode under Windows 2000, XP and ME

DO NOT follow the procedure on this page unless you are sure you want to permanently disable promiscuous mode.

Once promiscuous mode has been disabled using this method, it cannot be re-enabled.

To permanently disable promiscuous mode using Windows 2000, XP or ME and the NDIS 5 driver MDGNDIS5.SYS:

For an overview of Assist, see About Assist; for details of specifying parameters, see the Assist online Help.

Do not modify the .INF file (as recommended for the NDIS 3 and NDIS 4 drivers), because this invalidates the certification for the NDIS 5 driver.
